Enter the video duration and the calculator iterates the NASBA formula until the credit count and required questions are stable, returning the exact CPE credits and questions to write.

Based on the AICPA/NASBA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (revised January 2012) and the official NASBA Word Count Formula template.
Word count formula (Method 2, S14-07):
The result is calculated to three decimal places and rounded down to the nearest 0.5 per S13-01.
How this calculator works (iterative method):
1. Determine the initial credit tier from video duration plus word time alone, rounded down to nearest 0.5.
2. Look up the minimum review and final exam questions required for that tier (S8-02, S8-04).
3. Apply the full NASBA formula including the question time and round down to nearest 0.5.
4. If the result equals the current tier, the calculation is stable and complete.
5. If the result is higher, update the tier to that result and repeat from step 2 with the new tier's question minimums.
This iteration continues until the credit tier and the questions required for it produce a stable formula result. The final credit count, the questions to write, and the formula calculation all line up consistently.
Question minimums for compliance:
• Review questions: 3 per CPE credit, 2 per half-credit (S8-02)
• Final exam: 5 per CPE credit, 3 per half-credit, no true/false (S8-04)
• Final exam passing grade: minimum 70% (S8-04)
